The sunset as a deadline
Sea. The blazing sun crept back toward the waterline, and it was time to say goodbye to another day.

Invitation
Sea. The blazing sun crept back toward the waterline, and it was time to say goodbye to another day. Next to me on the beach sat an older couple who had clearly moved past contemplating the day. One peal of laughter after another, under that sky travelling from evening orange to night purple.
They poured another round and raised the bottle to me. That looked like an invitation, so the glass was quickly filled. I asked the pair about the secret of their undiminished joy.
The secret
The woman looked at her partner with a glance that would set off the smoke alarm and said: every evening we say a little goodbye to each other. Because every morning we wake up and ask each other: is this still it? Every day anew we honestly ask ourselves whether this is it. Sometimes it's an almost empty glass, and sometimes it's a bottle full of love. And when it's 'yes' again, then we celebrate that.
The mental balance
Awake. Those who want to grow dare to challenge themselves. No fear-thinking lulled to sleep. What counts is here. And now. Do we go to bed happier than we woke up? And what does that mean for tomorrow? Just put everything you think, feel and do on the mental balance each day. Don't hide behind mission and vision. Because they serve us until we've outgrown them. In life. And in work.
